Program Overview

At A Fresh Chapter, we believe you deserve the tools needed to redefine what you want life to look like now, whether you’re a patient, survivor, caregiver, or advocate. Our free, peer-led Empower Workshops provide new tools, resources, and perspectives to help you reflect on your experiences and discover opportunities for growth and learning.

Each session has a maximum of approximately 20 participants and will not be recorded.

Making Room for Mixed Emotions

Cancer brings up a lot — and it is not always easy to know how to navigate it.

This 60-minute workshop gives you space to slow down and begin to internally acknowledge emotions you may be experiencing. Through reflection questions and simple interactive exercises, the session draws on two A Fresh Chapter tools — Holding Space and Living in Contradiction / Acknowledging Dark and Light — and a framework for noticing and naming what you are carrying. You will walk away with something you can use that same day. Some participants may recognize these tools; others will be discovering AFC’s approach for the first time.

This workshop is open to anyone affected by cancer — people in treatment, after treatment, caregivers, advocates, and family members.

Storytelling for Impact

You don’t have to see yourself as a storyteller to shape a meaningful story. In this free, interactive 2-hour session, AFC CEO Terri Wingham will walk you through a simple storytelling framework and share pieces of her own experience to bring it to life. You’ll have space to reflect, explore a story that matters to you, and begin shaping it—whether it’s about healing, advocacy, caregiving, or something else entirely. Come with a story idea, or just come curious. You’ll leave with tools, fresh perspectives, and inspiration for your next story.
